This report forecasts to 2026 US bulk packaging demand in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand is segmented by product in terms of: film wrap; shipping sacks; bulk pails; intermediate bulk containers; drums; material handling containers; and other bulk packaging such as bulk boxes, strapping, and liners. Total demand is also segmented by market as follows: chemicals and pharmaceuticals; food and beverages; durable goods; and other markets such as agricultural products; plastic, rubber, and fiber products; and petroleum products.
To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2011 to 2021; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2011, 2016, and 2021.
Bulk packaging is defined as large-scale packaging that is used to store or transport raw ingredients or finished goods, either in single containers or to group separate items together for bulk shipment.
Excluded from the scope of this report are nonpackaging applications for textile sacks, such as money bags and sand bags for flood control; pallets and wood containers such as crates; corrugated and solid fiberboard containers other than bulk boxes and corrugated rigid intermediate bulk containers; tanker trucks and metal tanks for liquids; cans, bottles, jars, and tubs used for the retail packaging of large sizes of foods and other consumer goods; and large retail packaging for consumer goods such as lawn care products and pet food.
