Cleveland, OH, March 6, 2018 — US demand for titanium mineral concentrates is forecast to reach 1.2 million metric tons in 2022, according to Titanium: United States, a report recently released by Freedonia Focus Reports. Growing production of paint and plastic, supported by increasing building construction activity, will stimulate US titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment production and consumption of the required concentrates. Rising TiO2 pigment production is forecast to account for the majority of gains in demand for titanium concentrates.
US demand for titanium metal in volume terms is forecast grow 3.8% annually through 2022. Suppliers of titanium metal benefit from a lack of comparable substitutes for the material. Aerospace represents the largest application segment for titanium metal. Suppliers will benefit from rising production of aerospace equipment, primarily aircraft, as well as from the higher proportions of titanium consumed by aircraft manufacturers.
These and other key insights are featured in Titanium: United States. This report forecasts to 2022 US demand for titanium mineral concentrates, TiO2 pigments, and titanium metal in metric tons and nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand for titanium mineral concentrates in metric tons represents TiO2 content and is segmented by application in terms of:
Demand for TiO2 pigment in metric tons is segmented by application as follows:
Demand for titanium metal in metric tons – including both metal sponge and scrap – is segmented by application as follows:
