Total demand is also segmented by application as follows: water distribution, water transmission, and other applications such as service and rural water pipe.

Although distinctions are sometimes made between pipes and tubes, for the purposes of this report the terms ""pipe"" and ""tube"" are used interchangeably. Fittings are excluded from the scope of the report.
