Abstract

Salt: Canada

This report forecasts to 2023 salt demand in metric tons in Canada. Total demand is segmented by market as follows: road deicing; chemical manufacturing; food processing; livestock; and other markets such as water treatment, pharmaceuticals manufacturing, and oil and gas drilling.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2008 to 2018; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2008, 2013, and 2018.

This report analyzes the salt market (sodium chloride), including crystallized (dry) salt and salt contained in a brine solution. For salt in a solution, only the weight of the salt content is considered. The scope of this report covers captive salts manufactured for industrial purposes (such as chemical manufacturing) and salt traded in the open market.

Key macroeconomic indicators are also provided with quantified trends. Other various topics, including profiles of pertinent leading companies, are covered in this report. A full outline of report items by page is available in the Table of Contents.
